The Challenge
Aquatic ecosystem and wetland stewardship practices are often determined by studies that are specific to Canadian jurisdictions, which have variable climates, precipitation, and soil types. There is little information regarding Albertan soils and climate conditions and their effectiveness in mitigating pesticide runoff into wetlands.
The Project
Gather scientific data to evaluate the effectiveness of wetland management practices in mitigating the movement of crop protection products in wetlands and aquatic ecosystems.
The Results
This project will be updated upon completion of the project.
Grower Benefits
Data collected from this project will ensure representation of western Canada for regulatory bodies. This will ensure that accurate decisions can be made regarding crop protection products, which could lead to the retention of valuable crop protection tools while practicing mitigative stewardship practices.
