The Challenge
Two species of midge pose a threat to canola production in Canada: the newly discovered canola flower midge that’s present across the prairies, and the invasive swede midge that is not yet established in the prairies.
The Project
This project will initiate a new monitoring program for canola flower midge across the prairies using pheromone traps, and ensure continuation of the existing monitoring program for swede midge.
The Results
This section will be updated upon completion of the project.
Grower Benefits
This research will give growers more information on the threat posed by midges to canola production, and promote early detection of their invasion to facilitate better pest management.
