Alberta Canola is seeking a Communications & Events Intern to join our communications team for a one-year fixed term contract. Reporting to the Manager of Communications and working closely with the Communications & Events Coordinator, the intern will assist with content creation, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement activities that support Alberta Canola’s strategic goals.

This role plays a key part in advancing Alberta Canola’s communications and outreach efforts. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and proactive communicator, eager to gain hands-on experience in marketing, public relations, and event planning within Alberta’s agriculture sector. Communications Support

  • Draft and edit content for social media, newsletters, and websites
  • Assist with media releases, marketing materials, and presentations
  • Update and maintain content on Alberta Canola’s websites
  • Help ensure brand and messaging consistency

Event Support

  • Assist in planning and coordinating logistics for events and meetings
  • Support event promotion and marketing efforts
  • Help with registration, materials prep, and on-site logistics

General Support

  • Provide admin support to the communications team and other departments
  • Assist with analytics and performance tracking
  • Attend occasional events for content capture (photos, notes, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Enrolled in a post-secondary program in communications, PR, marketing, journalism, events or related field.
  • This opportunity is ideal for students participating in a co-op, internship term.
  • Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
  • Familiar with social media platforms and digital tools
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel occasionally
  • Based in Edmonton, Alberta
  • Work week will typically consist of 37.5 hours
  • Standard office hours 8:00am – 4:00pm with occasional evenings or weekend work during events
  • Occasional travel within Alberta required
  • Some physical activity may be required during event setup or attendance

Alberta Canola is a farmer elected and directed crop commission representing over 12,000 canola growers in Alberta. We are funded by our members through a refundable check-off to support the long-term success of canola farmers in Alberta through research, extension, public engagement, and advocacy.
