Dear fellow canola grower,
My name is Wayne Schneider, and I am a farmer from Nisku. For the past six years it has been my honor and pleasure to represent the canola growers of Region 6 on the board of the Alberta Canola Producers Commission. I made the difficult decision to not pursue a third term. No other director nominations were received for Region 6 in the annual nomination period ending October 31, 2024. This means Alberta Canola is in need of a canola grower to represent Region 6.
I encourage you to put your name forward to be a director, as it’s been a highly rewarding experience to be part of the canola family and advancing the canola industry.
The next step in Alberta Canola’s director election process is to call for nominations from the floor at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). The AGM is on Tuesday, January 22, 2025, in Red Deer and online. If more than one eligible producer is nominated, then all canola growers in attendance (in-person and online) can vote to elect the new director for Region 6. The 3-year term for regional directors begins immediately following the AGM.
More details can be found at albertacanola.com/nominations. If you are interested in hearing more about this opportunity, please contact me or Executive Director, Karla Bergstrom at 780-454-0844 or karla@albertacanola.com.
Sincerely,
Wayne Schneider
Region 6 Director

Alberta Canola is governed by 12 regionally elected farmer directors who can serve up to three 3-year terms. Region 6 represents over 600 canola growers in the province who delivered more than 153 thousand tonnes of canola in the 2023-2024 crop year. It is important that each region’s unique perspectives are represented when the board discusses issues and makes decisions to support the long-term success of canola farmers in Alberta.
