Welcoming New Team Members to Alberta Canola

Alberta Canola is excited to welcome two new members to our team who bring unique expertise and enthusiasm to support farmers across the province.

Keith Gabert – Provincial Canola Agronomy Specialist
Keith is passionate about helping farmers succeed in growing canola. With a B.Sc. in Agriculture, Plant Science from the University of Alberta and a diploma in Horticulture and Agronomy from Olds College, Keith has built a career deeply rooted in agronomy and grower support. His experience includes roles as a Canola Summer Student, Product Development Representative, Sales Agronomist, and Agronomy Specialist with the Canola Council of Canada.

Now serving as Alberta Canola’s Provincial Canola Agronomy Specialist, Keith brings his expertise in soils, crops, genetics, weeds, insects, and diseases, with a focus on integrating these areas to improve canola production.

Based in Red Deer County, Keith and his wife enjoy life close to the land. If it’s green and grows in Alberta, Keith has probably tried to grow it, or kill it!

Jack Liu – Communications & Events Intern
Jack joins Alberta Canola as our Communications & Events Intern. Currently in his third year of the User Experience Design program at MacEwan University, Jack has developed skills in digital design, content creation, and user-focused communication.

Through his internship, he looks forward to gaining hands-on experience in communications and event support while learning more about how Alberta Canola advances the long-term success of farmers through research, extension, consumer engagement, and advocacy.

Outside of his studies and work, Jack enjoys hiking, landscape photography, and reading.
