What farmers need to know about changes in Alberta’s Employment Standards Code and Regulation
The new changes and additions to Alberta’s Employment Standards Code and Regulation (effective January 1, 2018) cover areas like; minimum wage, overtime and holiday pay, leave eligibility, maternity/paternity leave and youth employment.
Even though the agricultural industry is a unique industry beholden to mother nature, the changes in the new legislation impacts all industries with a few exemptions and exclusions to farms and ranches.
The Ministry of Labour has organized a series of two hour in-person information sessions for employers to better understand Alberta’s new Employment Standards Code and Regulation.
