Alberta Canola to host 1st Annual Alberta Canola Conference

December 12, 2022

Edmonton, AB – December 12, 2022 – The Alberta Canola Producers Commission is proud to announce a new two-day canola focused event that will bring the world of canola to growers.

The Alberta Canola Conference will debut in Southern Alberta. On January 17 & 18, 2023, leaders from across the canola industry will gather in Lethbridge. The conference will provide a global perspective on the opportunities and challenges for canola now and in the future, along with information on growing canola, understanding business risk management programs, and an interactive discussion on the impact of the proposed 30% reduction in fertilizer emissions.

Moving to a stand-alone, annual event hosted in different regions of the province supports the commission’s strategy to increase engagement with all canola growers and improves in-person accessibility of our AGM to our members. Alberta Canola’s 33rd Annual General Meeting will be on Tuesday, January 17 at 3:30pm. Growers not attending the conference will be able to join the AGM online, ensuring all canola growers in Alberta can participate and cast their vote on any resolutions or elections taking place.

An all-new special feature of the Alberta Canola Conference will be the Research Symposium. Southern Alberta growers are the focus for the premiere of this new flagship event and attendees will be given the opportunity to define and prioritize canola research that addresses the unique challenges in this region.

“Canola is grown across Alberta and understanding the needs of growers in all regions is key to having the board make the best decisions to guide the organization. The Alberta Canola Conference along with the Annual General Meeting and Research Symposium will be held in a different region of the province each year as part of the Board of Directors’ commitment to engage with canola growers across Alberta,” says Roger Chevraux, Chair of Alberta Canola.

There is no charge to attend the Alberta Canola Conference, which is open to all canola growers and the industry that supports their success. Pre-registration is required as seating is limited.
