Edmonton, AB – November 1, 2022, The call for nominations for farmers to serve on the Board of Directors of the Alberta Canola Producers Commission in Regions 1, 4, 7, and 10 closed yesterday. This nomination cycle resulted in one nomination for Region 1, four nominations for Region 4, one nomination in Region 7, and zero nominations in Region 10.
The two canola producers elected by acclamation are Christi Friesen from Brownvale and Paula Law from Lacombe. Friesen will represent Region 1 and Law will represent Region 7.
Region 4 will see an election between the following nominees: Jeannette Andrashewski of Two Hills, Kyle Tarkowski of Myrnam, Mark Smook of Vegreville, and Ralph Tessman of Okotoks who farms in Region 4. The four candidates will be given an opportunity to speak to producers at the Grower Engagement Meeting in Fort Saskatchewan on December 1, 2022. Eligible producers in region 4 will be mailed an information package and a voting ballot before November 30th. Ballots will be counted on January 9, 2023.
The next step for Region 10 is to hold an election for a director at the Annual General Meeting on January 17, 2023.
