Ag Education in New Curriculum: Letters to Ministers LaGrange & Dreeshen

October 5, 2021

Improving food literacy of Albertans is key to growing a strong sustainable agricultural sector, which feeds our communities, advances health and nutrition, and encourages enhanced stewardship of our natural resources; and especially now to support Alberta’s post-pandemic recovery.

Please see the attached letter sent to Alberta’s Education Minister Adriana LaGrange from 9 Alberta agricultural organizations requesting Alberta Education to establish an education advisory group for agriculture and natural resources. Stakeholders from our commodity organizations, Ag for Life, and Inside Education could advise and provide input on how fact-based agricultural content and examples relating to the general and specific learner outcomes can be applied to Alberta’s curriculum and programs of study across all grades and subjects.

An additional letter was sent to Alberta’s Minister of Agriculture & Forestry Devin Dreeshen asking for him to support this initiate.
