Why Become a Director?
Alberta Canola’s board is governed by growers, for growers. Directors work alongside fellow producers to make decisions that create lasting value for Alberta’s canola industry.
As a director, you will:
- Represent and advocate for the growers in your region.
- Help direct grower investments in research, agronomy, market development, and advocacy.
- Influence decisions that affect the future of canola farming. Bring your real-world farming experience to decisions that support growers across the province.
- Build leadership skills and connections while making a lasting impact on Alberta agriculture.
What is the Commitment?
The Alberta Canola Board is made up of 12 grower-elected directors representing regions across Alberta.
Directors participate in quarterly board meetings and serve on committees focused on:
- Research
- Government and Industry Affairs
- Grower Engagement and Extension
- Public Engagement and Promotion
- Governance and Human Resources
- Finance and Audit
Who Can Be Nominated?
You may be eligible if you:
- Paid a service charge on canola delivered to a licensed grain dealer since Aug. 1, 2024.
- Are an individual producer or represent a corporation, partnership or other eligible entity.
- Grow canola in the region you wish to represent.
- Want to make a meaningful difference for Alberta’s canola industry.
Self-nominations are encouraged.

Director Terms – Successful candidates will begin a three-year term following the 2027 Annual General Meeting. Directors may serve up to three consecutive terms.
